HUNTERRoofing Co. · Est. 1967
Family owned · Since 1967Santo, Texas

Three generations on every roof.

Wayne Hunter started this company in 1967 with a ladder, a hammer and a handshake. His son Tommy built on it, and Dustin is next in line. Every job still gets a Hunter on site.

The Hunter family

A trade handed down

Good roofs are built in courses, each row laid over the one before it. That's how this business has grown too.

01 First generation · Founder, 1967

Wayne Hunter

Wayne opened Hunter Roofing on a simple idea: do the job right, charge a fair price and stand behind your work. He shook hands on every job and meant it every time.

02 Second generation · Owner

Tommy Hunter

Tommy grew up on his dad's job sites and learned the trade from the decking up. He kept Wayne's standards and brought the company into a new era of materials and methods.

The hometown way

How a Hunter does business

The same rules Wayne set in 1967.

Rule 1

Honest estimates

A written price before we start, and that's the price. If we find rotten decking, we show you before we replace it.

Rule 2

The truth, every time

If a repair will do, we won't sell you a new roof. Neighbors call us back because they can trust what we say.

Rule 3

A clean yard

Tarps over your flower beds, a magnet sweep for nails and every scrap hauled off. Your driveway is safe for bare feet.

Rule 4

Money stays local

We live here, buy here and support the schools, churches and teams in this community.

"If our name is on your roof, we'll be here to answer for it."

Roof talk, in plain English

Words you'll hear at the kitchen table

We walk you through your estimate line by line. Here's a head start.

Square
1 square = 100 sq ft
How roofers measure a roof. A 2,000 sq ft home might need 25 to 30 squares depending on its shape and pitch.
Pitch
6/12 = 6" rise per 12" run
How steep your roof is. Steeper roofs take more material and more care to work on safely.
Decking
Plywood or OSB sheathing
The boards under your shingles. If it's soft or rotten, it gets replaced before anything goes on top.
Flashing
Metal at chimneys & walls
Thin metal that seals the joints where your roof meets a wall, chimney or vent. Most leaks start here.
Drip edge
Metal trim at the eaves
Guides water off the roof and into the gutter instead of letting it soak the fascia board.
Class 4
Highest impact rating
Shingles tested to hold up against hail. Some insurers discount them, so ask your agent.
